As with its predecessors, the DB6 was announced at the London Motor Show and whilst the design parentage of the DB6 is clear, there were many changes from the outgoing DB5. Visually, the most noticeable difference was the Kamm tail, a design feature that had been successfully trialled on the Project 214 and 215 sports racing cars which improved stability at higher speed and reduced drag.
The 5-speed ZF gearbox of the later DB5s was continued for the DB6 which, when combined with the Vantage specification engine, offered a truly exceptional Grand Touring package of style, comfort and speed.
Chassis DB6/2762/R is an original Vantage. Finished in the Aston Martin Fiesta Red with a black interior, the invoices on file show a well-cared for example. The engine was rebuilt by Aston Engineering for the current owner, who has recently spent in the region of £20,000 making sure that ‘PRP 59D’ is such a nice driving example.
