Pendine specialise in the sale of historic cars for road and track. Whilst focusing specifically on the immediate post-war period through to the 1970s, our experience ranges from Edwardian racers through to the supercars of the 1990s.

Who we are

James Mitchell – Managing Director

Having worked as Business Manager at the world’s leading historic car specialist for over a decade, James’s specialist knowledge is of post-war British sports and racing cars. He has a reputation for being one of the foremost authorities on early Jaguar E-Type’s.

James is also the Senior Editor of Speed Age Books, a publishing company dedicated to the publication of bespoke, limited edition volumes on important cars and collections. Historical research is an increasingly important factor within the classic car market, making his specialist knowledge a great asset.
James founded Pendine in 2014.

Tiggy Atkinson – Operations Manager

Heritage Motoring, Events and Estates specialist, Tiggy has worked in the automotive world since 2010, firstly in PR & marketing then as one of the original founding team members of Bicester Heritage.  She was instrumental in building its successful events business alongside the wider development of the site since 2013.

Tiggy later joined HERO-ERA as Director of Memberships, building the offering and member numbers before heading up their estates division, managing a property portfolio.

All these roles have one theme in common, heritage motoring at its heart.

Tiggy’s contribution to the industry was recognised in 2023 when she won the Royal Automobile Club Historic Award for Personal Endeavour.  She is delighted to be joining the Pendine team as Operations Manager.

Matthew Staton – Head of Sales

Matthew brings extensive expertise to Pendine, specialising in the sale and acquisition of classic, competition, and modern classic cars. His passion for the automotive world was ignited by his grandfather’s involvement in the vintage and classic model car industry. Early hands-on experience with a classic car restoration company provided him with a solid foundation in automotive knowledge and a passion for the industry.

As the Sales Manager at Hilton & Moss he managed the sale and marketing of high-value cars. He also gained valuable experience as a Sales & Marketing Executive at the renowned Aston Martin specialist Nicholas Mee & Company, where he honed his skills under Nick Mee’s mentorship.

Matthew’s enthusiasm and extensive industry knowledge are evident in every interaction, earning him a reputation as a trusted advisor among clients and colleagues. Outside of work, Matthew enjoys music, watches, travel, and has a keen interest in most things with an engine.

The Blast House & Bicester Heritage

‘The Blast House’ is Pendine’s showroom at Bicester Heritage, Oxfordshire. Formerly RAF Bicester, Bicester Heritage is the country’s only site dedicated solely to historic car, motorcycle and aircraft specialists. It is also the best preserved pre-war aerodrome in the country.

The Blast House is an imposing, free-standing building best known for its two striking architectural details; its mighty second outer wall and beautiful interior tiles. The great half-height concrete wall that surrounds the building was built to deflect even the most powerful of enemy bombs. In stark contrast, thousands of glorious green tiles adorn the showroom and office walls. Such a lavish interior reflects the forgotten belief that even in an industrial building, form can overrule function.
