This is a really super, unmolested Sunbeam Tiger. The original Rootes Group Warranty Card is dated 13th October 1965, confirming it was supplied via Merchants Garage in Dorchester. Its factory colour scheme is the same as it is today – White with a black interior. The invoices stretch back to 1969, Riverside Garage (Hammersmith) Ltd being a firm favourite from the off. MOT’s starting in 1970 indicate that the current mileage of 87,713 to be correct.
The engine was rebuilt less than 5,000 miles ago, a fast road camshaft and Edelbrock manifold the only deviation from the original Ford 260 engine spec. Other than the uprated springs and Koni shock absorbers to help with the handling, and Minilite style wheels, the Sunbeam is standard. Shown here with the factory hard top fitted, there is also a roof and tonneau cover for summer motoring.
Accompanied by a huge invoice file that includes the original registration document, this is a very correct and largely untouched example of the Mk1 Tiger. All the tasty bits such as the fan cowling and washer bottle that have often been lost are still there – it’s getting increasingly hard to find Tiger’s as original as this.
