This is an original Home Market, matching numbers Coupe just out of long term ownership.
History for the car stretches back to when the last owner bought it in 1975, including MOT certificates that suggest the current mileage reading of 72,000 as correct. The paperwork indicates that it is a two owner car from new; the current V5C advises the previous owner bought it in 1965, whilst the replacement green logbook from 1975 shows only one previous owner and confirms the registration date. The gentleman we bought the car from was a member of the Jaguar Owners Club, and for many years regularly took the car to Club events all over the country.
The car has recently been the subject of £20,000 of recommissioning. This has included the removal, strip down and rebuilding of the rear cradle, the stripping off of ancient underseal and repainting the underside, new wheels and tyres, complete rebuild of the front & rear suspension including Koni shock absorbers, and an extensive 10,000 mile service including a rebuild of the carburettors, refurbished steering rack, new fuel and brake pipes and a complete brake overhaul including new discs.
This is a great driving example of arguably the most useable of all the E’s, and isn’t so ‘fresh out of the box’ that you’ll be too precious to drive it in the wet. The perfect Coupe to throw your bags in the back of this summer and enjoy the dusty roads if Italy or blast up the grassy alpine passes of Switzerland.
