1958 Aston Martin MK III

One Of The Most Original, Continuously Used And Loved MKIII’s In Existence.

One of the most original, continuously used and loved MKIII’s in existence. The current owner, an AMOC member for 41 years, bought VOW 136 in 1981. In his custodianship, it has been driven accross Europe, competed in numerous Sprints & Hill Climbs and maintained regardless of cost. A matching numbers car with its original, factory-fitted leather, it has had 4 previous owners (all of whom known to the club) and a warranted 105,000 miles from new. The history file with the car, covering his ownership and detailing all the work he has completed, makes War and Peace look like a short story, lacking of detail.

Everything has been regularly attended to with many of the invoices from Davron, Sigma Engineering and Aston Service Dorset. The engine was built by Peter Lander of Sigma Engineering, where it was line bored and balanced, and fitted with Corillo con rods, Omega pistons and an Alperform aluminium cylinder head. The rolling road shows a solid 185 BHP, with a constant torque curve through to 6,000 RPM (and it’s worth noting that the owner noticed his speedo nudge 100mph on the short straight at Angouleme!).

The rear axle, gearbox and overdrive have all been recently rebuilt by Davron with discreet upgrades including a DB5 clutch and oil cooler. But this is no out and out race car; always driven to Sprint and Hill climb meetings it’s a lovely, fast road MkIII that lends itself perfectly to fast road use and international tours. Recently repainted, the body panels are all original with outstanding panel fit, especially noticeable on the door close. The bulkhead carries the original and complete tool kit and jack.

A well-known, well-loved Mk III within AMOC circles, we hope the next owner is also a long-term guardian who will use and enjoy this special Aston Martin as much as the current owner has in his 36 years of custodianship.
