1961 Jaguar XK150 FHC 3.8S

An original Home Market 3.8 S

The XK150, in its final years, became the testbed for the forthcoming E-Type, the 3.8S engine being the motor that was to eventually power the 150MPH sports car. As such, the XK150 3.8S Coupe was the gentleman’s express for the chap who wanted to ensure a rear view mirror full of fast-fading Astons.

This is one of the 115 Right Hand Drive examples built by the factory, a genuine Home Market example. It was supplied through the London agent, Henley’s, and was finished in Cotswold Blue over red trim.

The engine was replaced many years ago with a correct, period specification unit. The car has had extensive recommissioning recently, including a rebuilt Overdrive and a brand new set of wheels and Blockley tyres. It is as rapid as one would expect of a 3.8S, and feels like a great car on the road. Perfect for a spirited, dry trip through Europe this summer.
