1961 Jaguar E-Type Series I Roadster

Very early internal lock car, Matching Numbers Engine, Desirable uprgades

Supplied in September 1961, via Henlys, London to Associated Newspapers Ltd, presumably to a company Director rather than a journalist in a hurry. This is one of the very first ‘internal bonnet lock’ cars, as production of the E-Type really began to build momentum.

Finished in Carmen Red with a Tan interior, this is a very well presented example with restoration invoices going back to 2000, following its return home from South Africa.

Forming part of an important private collection since 2008, at which point it received numerous upgrades. These included a 5-speed gearbox, Koni shock absorbers, Coopercraft brakes, Avon tyres and electronic ignition. It has just been fully serviced by a specialist, and with the benefit of the upgrades, it drives exceptionally well.

Less than 10 chassis numbers away from an Outside Bonnet Lock, and only a third of the price.
