Despatched on the 15th January 1959 to Competition Motors, California, USA this AC Ace originally left the factory with an AC six cylinder engine.
The engine was upgraded to a Cobra style 289 V8 sometime before 1991; on file, there is a copy of the AC Ace & Aceca Register with a hand written date of that year, noting the last known owner as B Murillo with the comment “5/87 Action; Current engine: Ford 289”
In 1992 the car was the subject of a complete restoration by Restoration Associates, California. Further restoration work includes a full repaint to its current colour and the fitment of a Borg Warner T5 gearbox in 2003. From California this Ace emigrated to Australia in 2012 and has seen very little use. As such it presents remarkably well, a testament to its earlier restoration.
Aside from the running gear and Cobra style rear bumper, this Ace presents as a standard looking AC Ace, the T5 gear lever the only give away in an otherwise standard cabin. Finished to a very high level, this V8 engined Ace is more than quick enough to raise your heart rate!
