1955 Jaguar XK140 Fixed Head Coupe

An Unrestored, Home Market Fixed Head Coupe

This is the XK140 Fixed Head Coupe that is so hard to find: original Home Market, never restored, overdrive gearbox and in the best colour combination of British Racing Green over Suede Green trim.

It was built on the 13th April 1955 and supplied through Henlys, London. The previous owners bought the XK over 20 years ago as a very original car that needed a mechanical overhaul. Since then, they have spent around £50,000 on the Coupe without ruining its character.

The engine was rebuilt to full C-Type specification, including sandcast SU’s, by John Exley around 2,000 miles ago. At the same time, the gearbox was completely rebuilt. It has been fitted with a Limited Slip Diff, Harvey Bailey front suspension,  lightened and balanced flywheel and complete re-wire. It sits on body-colour wire wheels helping cool the front disc brakes, and a new set of Avon Turbospeeds.

The head and gearbox are original, and the block is a correct XK140 block. The trim is almost completely original. The exterior is a meadow of different greens with scrapes and battle scars– do not expect a concours car. Judging by the outstanding panel fit, we doubt the body had ever been off of the chassis.

This wholesome XK, delicious and honest, has just completed our inaugural ‘Pendine to Pendine’ rally, covering over 500 fautless miles. It’s hard to find Jaguar’s of any kind like this anymore; don’t miss it.
